UW Credit Union – Fish Hatchery Branch
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Areas of Expertise: HVAC
As part of its growth in the Madison market, UW Credit Union built a new full-service branch at on Fish Hatchery Road in Fitchburg, Wisconsin. The 20,000 square-foot office facility was built on a previously undeveloped parcel of land on a busy thoroughfare into Madison. The building utilizes premium energy efficient HVAC systems including variable refrigerant flow, and ground source geo-exchange for building heating and cooling. The system provides premium occupant comfort and energy optimization by utilizing interior zoning for each enclosed space.
Hooper’s HVAC team took all necessary precautions required for a tight site in a high traffic area to install the ground source geo-exchange system. Drilling geo-exchange wells is water-intensive and managing the outflows on this site required detailed coordination and communication with the project team. The variable refrigerant volume system remains hidden and operates quietly and efficiently above ceilings. Coordination was required to prioritize spaces with high ceilings, open concept and modern finishes.
